Victor Mendes is Head of Research at the Portuguese Securities Commission (CMVM). As part of his role, Victor represents the CMVM on a number of national, ESMA, ESRB and IOSCO committees. His main research interests are Financial Economics, Behavioral Finance and Corporate Governance. His research has been published in Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Economic Psychology, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Applied Economics, Applied Financial Economics, European Journal of Finance, Quantitative Finance, Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Finance, Research in International Business and Finance, Portuguese Economic Journal, among others.
Before joining the CMVM in 2000, Victor was Associate Professor of Economics at the Faculdade de Economia do Porto (Portugal).
Victor holds a BS degree (Licenciatura) in Economics from Faculdade de Economia do Porto (Portugal), a PhD in Economics from the University of South Carolina (USA) and Agregação in Economics from Faculdade de Economia do Porto (Portugal).
